MARKETING TIP - HOW TO...
Tell Your Business Story in 60 Seconds
As a communications coach (as quoted by Carmine Gallo), she has developed a four-step exercise that will work for any company or product. You must simply answer each of the following four questions in no more than two sentences:
Let's use the example of an entrepreneur who is starting a housekeeping business. Based on those four questions, the company's story might sound something like this:
"We own Five Star Cleaning, an eco-friendly housekeeping service that pampers you and your home [what your business does]. Typical cleaning services make you prep your home ahead of time, supervise to prevent theft and hang around for hours while the cleaners do their work. Because we require no prep, this saves time right off the top, and we are bonded so our service is worry-free, allowing you to go about your day [what problem does it solve]. And, we always send a minimum team of three to get the job done quickly [how it's different]. Imagine coming home from a long day and your laundry is all done, your bed has been turned down and there are fresh flowers awaiting you. That's the extra pampering we offer that sets us apart from all the rest [why you should care]."
Do this exercise for your business and send it to me –firstname.lastname@example.org - and I'll critique it for you without cost.
END OF YEAR DREAD FOR MANY BUSINESS OWNERS
How to Get the Best From Your Accountant
For many business owners, the end of the financial year wastes time and creates expense because of the need to complete annual accounts and file tax returns. Contributing to the business owner's frustration, is the reluctance of most accountants to be up-front with their pricing and quote a price before they start the work and then to offer a guaranteed day for the completion of your work.
It's a mystery to me why accountants (who should be expert counters) can't be up front, quote a price and then guarantee when your work will be ready. As most accountants charge in 6 minute intervals, the incentive to be efficient with the production of your work is not always transparent. Business owners are left with this nagging thought that the longer their work takes, the bigger the bill.
You are reading this newsletter from Chartered Accountants who are up-front, and who will quote you an all up fee and will guarantee to have your work completed on an agreed day. We'll make you feel like this chap below!
Question: When your accountant completed your 2013 accounts, were you left with nagging doubts about the quality and level of service? If so, come to us for a Fixed Fee and a Fixed Delivery Date.
I'll be surprised if you're not delighted with what we can offer. Email me – email@example.com – for more information.

Feel like sticking your head in the sand instead of facing your tax debt?
Here's a tip that will save you money if you have an IRD debt: if you put any outstanding debts with IRD under arrangement before is it overdue you will only get the first 1% penalty. ALL OTHER PENALTIES will be suppressed, as long as you keep to your terms of the arrangement.
(On any amount owing there is normally a 1% penalty the day after the due date, then a 4% penalty six days later, then a 1% penalty every month thereafter.)
A year from now you will wish you had started today.
