| SAVE PROVISIONAL TAX WHAT TO DO IF YOUR PROFITS ARE DOWN If your business profit is down for the 6 months ending September (or 7 months to October) and you expect it to stay down because of the economy or if you are in the quake zone, then now is the time to reassess your prov tax calculations. This is done by an interim set of accounts/or a review of your own internal accounting P&L to substantiate a request to the IRD that we make a change to your taxable income and hence your prov tax figure. HOW WOULD YOUR BUSINESS SURVIVE SCRUTINY? Undercover Boss is great bit of television for business owners to watch. The plot is that large businesses and organisations send in the CEO or other top executive at grass roots where he or she is not known by sight. The boss gets to clean the toilets, serve the customers or simply take the role of an employee down on the shop floor. The boss learns more about the company in three days at that level than any research could ever uncover. Most of us have businesses where the boss is well known but can you imagine how your business would shape up if you could enter it as a stranger and be the fly on the wall? How much would you learn about what the staff and customers think about you and your business? TAX TIP • Build buzz. Use the blog to publicise new products or services. But be sure to include a direct link to the products page on your website. Consumers want to be educated before making a buying decision. Also, use your blog to announce an upcoming sale or promotion — this is one of the best tactics for generating repeat visits. • Highlight customer stories. Including stories about happy customers will inspire your readers, and ensure they feel valued. As an added bonus, the people you highlight will most likely share the entry with their friends, leading to even more traffic to your website. • Offer practical advice. Make your blog as a forum for answering some of your customers’ most pressing questions or providing important insight on the uses of your products. This will make your readers feel appreciated and spark a two-way conversation. • Encourage buzz. Include a link to allow readers to share the posts they like most. The more they share and talk about your business blog, the more successful your blog will become. FIXED PRICE ACCOUNTING DELIVERED ON A FIXED DATE - GUARANTEED
