We created Step Up Man to symbolise the new Canterbury and Christchurch spirit required to deal with the exciting challenges that are on our doorstep. Few cities in modern times are having to deal with what Christchurch has to. Our Step Up Man is also a statement about what E3 can contribute to your business. If you are not an E3 client and want your business to Step Up to a new level of adventure and success, then give me a call.
The Step Up Man was conceived by E3 and put into dramatic creative form by Nick Hawes of Yellow Pencil. Thank you Nick.
CLOSING THE SALE
Ten rules that will win you more sales
1 Always sit down. Never present your proposal while you are standing. Sell on your feet close from your seat.
2 Present the deal in writing. Never talk about your proposal without presenting it in writing. Present with a contract not a conversation.
3 Communicate your proposal clearly. Don’t mumble. Clearly ask for the order to close the sale. Ask the customer to sign the deal.
4 Make eye contact. Make direct eye contact with your customer, be confident and determined to earn the business now not later.
5 Have a pen available. If the pen and contract aren’t ready, you can’t close the deal Never be without a pen and contract so when the opportunity is there, you don’t miss it.
6 Use humour. Humour relieves a pressure cooker atmosphere. Learn some one-liners to relieve pressure and close the sale.
7 Always ask one again. Most sales people never ask for the close once let alone the 5-6 times necessary.
8 Have an variety of closes available. You need to have closes for every possible stall and objection the buyer can throw at you. Buyers don’t make sales, you do.
9 Stay with the buyer. Never leave the buyer if possible. Don’t allow the buyer to get away from the idea of making a decision.
10 Treat the buyer like a buyer. Regardless of their financial situation or reasons for not being able to close, treat them like a buyer.

TAX TIP
Starting from the 2011 tax year, IRD mileage (kilomatage?) rates are 74c per km. The rate applies to all petrol and diesel fuelled vehicles regardless of their cc capacity. This does not include motor cycles.
Print your best small advert on a postcard and post it directly to your targeted market. People read postcards when the message is brief. A small advert on a post card can drive a high volume of business to your website and generate a flood of new leads for a very small cost.

Before you criticise someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them you're a mile away and have their shoes.
A closed mouth gathers no foot.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
There are tywo excellent theories about arguing with women. Neither one works.
Generally you are not learning much when your lips are moving.
Never under any circumstances take a laxative and a sleeping pill on the same night.
It is always worth checking invoices received for advertising. Some outright scammers will send an invoice for advertising that was never published. Other legitimate businesses sometimes scan your advert from another publication in which it has appeared, then print it in their own publication without your authority. They then send you an invoice, along with a copy of your advert as it appeared in their publication.
Always ensure you or someone in your organisation has authorised the advertisement before paying an invoice. Unscrupulous businesses count on you not checking.

“Life is full of obstacles and opportunities. The important thing is to appreciate that the obstacles themselves are commonly opportunities when viewed from a positive angle. That’s what defines my races, challenges and obstacles. The winner is the one who finds the most opportunities in those obstacles. It’s a healthy kind of thinking. Energy flows where attention goes.”

Women Outgunning Men In Business Creation
Latest numbers from US show
women there are not only earning more degrees than men, but are also starting more businesses. The number of SMEs owned by women in
the US is growing 50% faster than the total number of SMEs and by 2018 it’s estimated a third of US jobs will be generated by businesses owned by women. And they are in fields you may not expect, such as construction, shipping, warehousing and waste services. Look for the same trend developing here in NZ. (Thanks to The Main Report)
